UNDERGRADUATE REGISTRATION
Undergraduate Registration FAQs
The central Registration Assistance site (https://casportal.gsu.edu/register/login.php) is intended to help connect students with those at the department level responsible for registration approvals, prerequisite overrides, section overflows, and other types of assistance.
You do not need an override. The registration system will automatically recognize that you are registered unless you are a post-bac student or took the course at another university. The only course that requires an override is CHEM 1211, if you took CHEM 1050, CHEM 1101, or CHEM 1151 rather than taking the placement test. If receive an error message while you are attempting to register, you can contact the department by emailing [email protected]. Please include the Course, CRN, semester, your name and your Panther ID number in the email.
CHEM 1211K is the only course that may need prerequisite overrides for non-transient and post-bac students (unless you completed the prerequisite course at another institution. Please send an email to [email protected] and include the Course, semester, your name and your Panther ID number in the email.
The Department of Chemistry will have to review your transcript and clear you for registration. Please send an email to [email protected] and include your student status (i.e. transient / postbac.), the course, semester, your name and your Panther ID number in the email. If your transcripts have yet to be evaluated, please attach a copy of your unofficial transcript in your email.
All students must take the CHEM 1211 Preregistration Test in order to register for CHEM 1211K.
To register, you must take a required 45-minute diagnostic chemistry test administered by the Chemistry Department on campus at selected times (no fee for test; please bring a non-programmable calculator and #2 pencil).
Exemptions to the exam are listed below:
Who must take the test? All except students with a chemistry AP score of 2 or better or an SAT subject score of 600 or better or completion of a college-level chemistry course.
Transient students enrolled at other universities do not have to take the test. Transient students should call 404-413-5500 for authorization to register for Chem 1211K.
Post-Baccalaureate students do not have to take the placement test. Post-Baccalaureate students should call 404-413-5500 for authorization to register for chemistry 1211K.
The abbreviation XL means that the course is cross-listed and the available slots are coming from the cross-listed course. The section you are trying to register for is at capacity. The department can not override you into the full section. You can however, sign up for the departmental waitlist.
For a registration listing, the second and third rows of a listing refer to prelab and lab times while the first row refers to the lecture period. All three times are considered mandatory for attendance.
For example a course listing and explanation is listed below:

TR 11:00 am-11:45 am
TR 11:55 am-01:55 pm
