Ben Dratch, one of our undergraduate students, won two awards yesterday for the Thesis Pitch Program from the Honors College. He won the 1st place cash prize of $150 and the People’s Choice which includes a certificate of recognition. Here is his photo with Jessie McCray and Dr. Marise Parent.
One of Dr. Henary’s compounds (MHI-148) has been licensed by DanZen Theranostics, a Delaware-based company, to develop a product that can be used to image and target cancer cells. Georgia State University has finalized the licensing agreement with this company.
Congratulations to Dr. Hao Xu on receiving two federal grants from the NIH (R21 GM 128442) and the NSF (CHE 1800405) for the next 2 (2018-2020) and 3 (2018-2021) years to study the “Stereoselective Assembly of Challenging Glycosidic Linkages with Earth-Abundant Metal Catalysts” and “Harnessing Stable Peroxides for Selective Nitrogen Atom and Fluoroalkyl Transfer,” respectively.
Prof. Gangli Wang has received a new research grant from the Department of Energy (DOE). Please join me in congratulating Prof. Gangli Wang on this funding from the DOE (DE-SC0019043) to study “Ion Transport Dynamics at Nanoscale Interfaces in Single Asymmetric Nanopores Arrays” for the next 3 years (2018-2021) with a total budget of approximately $490,000.00.
Congratulations to Dr. Jun Yin on renewing his NIH R01 grant (2R01GM104498-06A1) to study the “Orthogonal Ubiquitin Transfer to Profile E3 Substrate Specificity” in collaboration with Dr. Hiroaki Kiyokawa at Northwestern University. The total budget in approximately $1.4 million for the next 4 years (2018-2022).
This is great news for Dr. Yin’s research program, the Department of Chemistry, and Georgia State University.
Dr. Cynthia McMurray, a graduate of the GSU Chemistry Department and Dr. David Wilson’s laboratory, is now a full professor at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory associated with the University of California at Berkeley.
