Choose from the following list. These assignments have been grouped according to topic. To use, simply select the print function in Netscape. A copy of the page will print out. Questions requiring student response are designated by a number. A copy of the molecule and pertanent information typically is provided.

Molecular structure of:
2,5-bis(4'-2"(3,4,5,6-tetrahydropyrimidinyl)phenyl)furan.dihydrochloride

This molecule is part of a series modeled by Carolyn A. Kanagy and W. David Wilson of the Georgia State University Department of Chemistry. It is a dicationic, diaryl furan which can bind to AT- rich regions of the minor groove of DNA. It has been tested as a potential inhibitor of the enzyme topoisomerase II, and has been considered as an antigiardial agent.
