Our exciting research programs provide rich resources for training scientists in the multidisciplinary field of chemistry and biology.
Students learn a variety of cutting-edge chemical and biochemical techniques, such as molecular cloning, site-directed mutagenesis, PCR, protein expression, Western blot, immunoprecipitation, peptide chemistry, enzymology, kinetics,
tissue culture, bioinformatics, UV-Vis, fluorescence, organic synthesis, NMR, mass spectrometry, etc. We welcome excellent graduate and undergraduate students
and other senior scientists to join our research team to resolve critical problems in chemistry, biology and disease.
Both PhD and MS graduate student positions are available in Dr. Zheng's laboratory. Please send your CV and a coverletter stating your research interest.
Keep in mind that TOEFL, GRE and a strong academic record are required for graduate admission. To apply for GSU Ph.D. program in Chemistry, check the Georgia State University Graduate Admission Website for more details.
A postdoctoral position available to study mechanism and functions of key chromatin modification enzymes. Applicants should have a PhD with background in molecular biology
or biochemistry. Experiences include DNA cloning, PCR, protein expression and purification, kinetics, immunofluorescence, western blot, and cell cultures. Please send letter,
CV, and three references to: Prof. George Zheng, Department of Chemistry, Georgia State University, PO Box 4098, Atlanta, Georgia 30302. E-mail: yzheng@gsu.edu.
The candidate should have completed a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry or medicinal chemistry. Strong background in synthetic organic chemistry required. Familiar with
multi-step organic design & synthesis; purification techniques especially liquid chromatography, HPLC; spectroscopic techniques such as NMR, MS, FT-IR, UV-Visible,
Fluorescence. Individual is responsible for synthesizing small molecules and short peptides libraries for use in drug discovery. Please submit curriculum vitae, summary of
research experience, and three references to: Prof. George Zheng, Department of Chemistry, Georgia State University, P.O. Box 4098, Atlanta, Georgia 30302-4098. E-mail: yzheng@gsu.edu.
Send an email to Dr. Zheng with the following information - name, resume, transcript, and a single paragraph explaining why research in our lab will help further your career and educational goals.
You are welcome to contact us for other opportunities, such as visiting scholars, laboratory technicians, exchange students, and internships, etc.
