INTRODUCTION
Drug discovery and development is a rapidly evolving area of research. Recent developments in the areas of genomics, proteomics, combinatorial chemistry, high throughput screening, computational science, and bioinformatics have changed the way drug discovery research is done. Furthermore the recent recognition of the benefit of employing integrated approaches in drug discovery and development has transformed the pharmaceutical industry. With such rapid developments, it is becoming much harder for researchers to follow new developments outside of their immediate areas of research by only reading the primary research literature. This book series will try to capture research topics of significant current interest and present to the entire pharmaceutical community a distilled version of new developments in each topic area
SCOPE OF THE SERIES
The Series will encompass all areas of drug discovery and development including the underlying pathophysiology of important diseases and disease vectors; therapeutic approaches to the treatment of various diseases; the properties of molecular targets for therapeutic agents; important new methodologies facilitating the search for therapies; genomics and proteomics; structure-activity correlations of drug series; the development of new imaging and diagnostic tools; drug metabolism; drug delivery; and chemical, pharmacological, pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, and clinical characteristics of important drugs.
