This book is volume 1 of the AAPS Press series, Biotechnology: Pharmaceutical Aspects, and is based on a 2003 AAPS workshop of the same name focused on evaluating various ways to optimize the lead selection process in drug discovery. It includes sections on (1) in silico tools, (2) physicochemical methods, (3) permeability, (4) ADME, and (5) applications of property information to lead selection. Its contributors include highly experienced leaders in their respective field from both industry and academia.
